ABOUT
Suzanne Koett is a Johnson City, TN-based visual and photographic artist. She uses a blend of analog photography, digital photography, collage, drawing, drafting, and 19th-century alternative processes to produce artwork. Her work centers around the continual awakening process and infinite cycles of life, death, and rebirth.
Koett’s work has been exhibited locally, nationally, and internationally in museums, photography centers, photography expos, and galleries. She has taught art, photography, and workshops. Growing up in the SF Bay Area, Suzanne was introduced to art and photography at age 14 by her high school photography teacher, Diana Govnik. She went on to receive a BA in Art (concentration in photography) from San Francisco State University (2001), studying under Professors Lewis deSoto and Dale Kistemaker who taught her about process, vulnerability, and tapping into the unseen through art expression.
She is a seeker of truth, freedom, and peace.
STATEMENT
Just as our biological cellular life is an ongoing process of change through adaptive responses to environmental stimuli, our inner psychological and spiritual world mimics the same. Ever-changing, releasing, growing, healing, and evolving. My artwork lands at the truthful intersection of art, psychology, spirituality, and science; serving as a reminder that separation from nature and each other is an illusion.
